This is in regards to using a Nikon DTM330 with SurvCE.
!!! Its critical to check the part number on your instrument cable.
A proper Nikon cable would normally have a part number:
"TDS148CNTG"
--- If your cable has "TDS148CGTSSOK" printed on it all the steps below will fail because this is a Topcon/Sokkia cable.
You would need to purchase a Nikon instrument cable before using SurvCE software in a data collector with your
instrument.
***On the Instrument***
1) Menu
2) 3 Sett
3) 6 Comm
4) Set External Comm to "Nikon"
5) Baud = 1200 / 8 / None / 1
6) Menu / 3 Settings / 8 Rec
7) Set "Data Rec." to "Comm" {the other option is "Internal"}
***On your data collector***
1) Tap File / Exit / Yes to exit out of SurvCE
2) Hold the power button a few seconds on your data collector and release it when you see a pop-up menu
3) Tap "Power Off" from the menu and tap OK to the message
4) Wait 5 or 10 seconds for all the lights to go off and the screen to go blank then hold down the power button and
release it when you see the screen light up
5) After it returns back to the Windows Mobile start screen - run SurvCE
***SurvCE 2.62 or higher settings***
1) In SurvCE - tap the Equip tab then tap "Total Station"
2) Set the Manufacturer to "Nikon" and set the Model to "DTM 330 Series"
3) Tap the Comms tab and set it up for:
Type: Cable
Port: Com1
Baud: 1200 / Data Bits: 8 / Parity: None / Stop Bits: 1
4) Fill out the Settings and Search tab with your preferences
5) Tap the Green Check in the upper right to save your changes
