A common use for this practice is to obtain GPS base station corrections through the Internet.

STEP # 1) Provision and Configure the MiFi Card Through your PC USB
1. Follow the provisioning and configuration steps on your PC as outlined at
Verizon Mifi Getting Started Guide

2. Once completed, disconnect the MiFi card from your PC and verify the MiFi card is powered on.
Note: An extended life battery for the Verizon MiFi 2200 device can be obtained by visiting

STEP #2) Perform the following on the Carlson Surveyor+:

1. From the Home screen, tap on the Wi-Fi icon to access the Wireless Manager and turn Wi-Fi
On.

2. In the Wireless Manager, tap Menu Wi-Fi Settings.

3. In Settings, the Verizon MiFi device should appear. If it doesn’t tap Add New… and follow the
on-screen prompts (you should be able to accept all of the default values).
Note: When prompted for the SSID and password of the MiFi device, extract them from the
label found on the MiFi device.

4. Tap and hold on the MiFi device and then click Connect.
Note: It may take several seconds for the MiFi connection to be established.

5. Upon a successful connection, the notification icon in the status bar will appear as shown. Your
Surveyor+ is now able to access the Internet. Tap OK to dismiss the Settings dialog box.

STEP #3) The following information was written showing Carlson SurvCE 2.51. Subsequent releases of
SurvCE should be very similar to that shown below.

1. Launch SurvCE and proceed through the Job Setup menus to the main SurvCE screen.

2. Tap the Equipment tab and then tap GPS Rover and tap the RTK tab.

3. Set the Device to Data Collector Internet and then tap the Device Tools button.

4. Since the Surveyor+ is managing the connection to the Internet, tap the Green Check button to
complete the SurvCE connection to the Internet.

5. Complete the GPS Rover configuration settings as outlined in the SurvCE documentation.
Once the Internet connection has been established, mountpoints and base information can be
established to obtain GPS base station corrections.
