This is in regards to installing CG Field onto a Surveyor+ with a USB cable
1) PLUG in the USB cable from your Data Collector to your Desktop or Laptop computer to get
connected with ActiveSync.
If you have Windows XP and need to install ActiveSync click the link below. After it downloads click “Run” and then
Follow the On-Screen prompts to install it:

For Windows Vista computers without Windows Mobile Device Center click the link below:

2) Click the link below to download the file "CGField_Surveyor.exe" and save it to your Desktop Computer:

3) On the Desktop PC - if your still connected with ActiveSync then you can Double click the "CGField_Surveyor" file
that you downloaded in Step #2 then hit Enter and follow the prompts to install CGField onto your Surveyor+
4) After the installation is finished you can unplug the USB cable
5) On the Data Collector - tap Start / tap Programs / tap "CGField" to run PocketDos
6) PocketDos will load and run. PocketDos must be configured. Using your stylus, select the miniature
Windows icon in the lower left corner of the screen then Tap SETTINGS / tap DISPLAY
a. On the ADVANCED tab move the Bits per pixel slider all the way LEFT
b. On the PERFORMANCE tab move the refresh rate slider all the way RIGHT
c. On the ZOOM tab UNCHECK the "show zoom button" box and CHECK the "set text mode columns and rows" box --- scroll
down to set it for 22 columns and 9 rows
d. Tap OK in the upper right to Save the changes
7) Tap the miniature Windows icon in the lower left corner of the screen. Go to SETTINGS>COMMUNICATION>COM1.
a. Redirect the COM1 port to: "COM1 Serial Cable on COM1"
b. Place a check in the "save redirection" box
c. Tap OK in the upper right to Save the changes
8) Tap the Windows icon again and tap "Drives"
a. Tap on "Storage (C:)"
b. Tap "Next" then tap next to "Cancel Redirection" and tap Next
c. Tap the Windows Icon in the bottom left / tap Drives / tap " (D:)"
d. Tap "Next" then tap next to "Cancel Redirection" for D: and tap Next
e. Tap the Windows Icon / tap Drives / tap Add
f. Tap "Next" / set the "Drive:" pulldown to "C:" / tap "Next"
g. Tap "Browse" / tap "Next" to set the folder to just a Forward Slash ""
h. Tap "Next" / check the box for "Save Redirection" / tap "Finish" / tap "Close"
i. Type in SETDRIVE and hit the Enter key on the keyboard
9) The Next step is to register CGField. Type in CG at the C:> prompt and then hit ENTER on the keyboard to run CGField
then call Carlson Software at (606) 564-5028 and ask for help with
"C&G Field Registration"
10) After Registering CG Field = Exit to Windows by tapping the ESC key twice then Tap on where it says "Tap here to set
Owner Information" and fill in your Name then tap OK in the upper right
