***PLEASE NOTE: This information is provided as a reference and does not imply that Carlson Software will provide
support for the Sierra Wireless Aircard hardware

!!! WARNING --- after following the steps in this article YOU MUST click Start / Programs / Utilities / Save System.  If
you don't do this after completing Step #3 you would risk losing the Drivers and Settings and your modem would stop
working until you got to the Office and repeated ALL the steps below!!!


The Sierra Wireless AirCards are recommended for use as internal cellular connections in the AllegroCX Field PCs. 

***This article is specific to the "Sierra Wireless Aircard 555d for Verizon" --- this model may be difficult to find
due to recent discontinuation of production.  You could try searching for Used or New models of the Aircard 555d that
are for sale on the internet.  


I. FIRST you would need to purchase the Aircard 555d modem and contact Verizon Wireless to setup an Unlimited Data
account with them and have them activate the Cellphone Modem.


II.  SECOND you would need to install the Sierra Wireless Aircard Driver using the LINK at the bottom of the article


III. THIRD we will create a Dial-Up icon in Windows CE

1) Plug in the Sierra Wireless Aircard

2) Go into the Start Menu / Settings / Network and Dialup / tap the File pull-down in the Upper Left / tap New / type in
AIRCARD for the name / tap Next

3) Pick "Aircard 555 modem" from the top of the Pulldown List / tap Next / for the Phone Number enter in the code below
then tap Finish to return to the Network and Dialup window

4) Tap once on the "AIRCARD" icon we just created / tap File / tap Properties

  5a) tap Configure / set the Baud Rate in the upper left to "19200"

  5b) tap the Call options tab = Check both the boxes for "Cancel call if not connected" and "Wait for dial tone"

  5c) Type in the code below into the "Insert Modem Commands" box:
@C2

then tap OK / tap OK again to return to the Network and Dialup window
!NOTE: This line of code is case sensitive and it needs to be entered in exactly as shown above!


6) Double-Tap on the "AIRCARD" icon we just created
  Fill out this screen exactly using the information below:
    User Name: yournumber@vzw3g.com     
{Replace yournumber with Your ten digit Cellphone Phn Number, Example:
6065550123@vzw3g.com}
    Password: vzw

7) tap "Dial Properties" / tap Edit in bottom right / Enter just G in each of the 3 boxes and hit the ENTER key on
keyboard once all 3 boxes have just the letter G in them / tap OK
!NOTE: if you tap the X in the upper right instead of hitting the Enter Key the changes won't save

8) Check the box for "Save Password" then tap the Connect Button

9)  It should display a series of messages:
Opening Port
Dialing #777
User Authenticated
Device Connected
Connected

10) Once it says "Connected" you can tap the Hide button


At this point you should be connected to the Internet and you should perform a SAVE SYSTEM

!!! WARNING --- At this point YOU MUST click Start / Programs / Utilities / Save System.  

If you don't do a "Save System" at this time you Risk losing the Drivers and Settings and your modem would stop working
in the Field until you got back into to the Office and repeated ALL the steps listed Above!!!
