Created: 2016-09-28Last modified: 2016-09-28
This is in regards to using the Carlson BRx5 as a network rover with the Internal GSM modem.

!!! Please Note: On Dec. 31st, 2016, AT&T ceased providing 2G service on the AT&T cell network. Because of this shutdown, the internal cell modem in the Carlson BRx5 GNSS receiver no longer works on the AT&T cell network.

You can click the link below for a detailed description of the alternatives to using the AT&T sim chip:

Here is the steps you can use to setup the Internal GSM modem with T-mobile:

1) Insert your T-mobile sim chip into the BRx5 and power the unit on

2) Go into Equip / GPS Rover and set it for Manufacturer: Carlson and Model: BRx5

3) Tap the Comms tab and set it for Type: Bluetooth and BT Type: Windows Mobile then tap the "wrenches" next to Windows Mobile and use the "Find Device" button to add your BRx5

4) Tap the Bluetooth Plug icon in the top middle to connect to your BRx5 by bluetooth

5) Then tap the RTK tab and change it to Device: Internal GSM and tap the "wrenches" off to the right

6) Set the "Provider" for T-Mobile then tap the Green Check to use the most default T-mobile APN settings

7) Set it to Network: NTRIP then tap the "wrenches" icon next to Network: NTRIP.

8) Tap "NtripInfoCasters" or whatever Base Network is shown in the top left and tap then erase this text and type a nickname for your NTRIP reference network (i.e. - KY VRS or MA SmartNet)

8) Fill out the IP address, Port, User name and Password from your NTRIP reference network provider then tap the Green Check to download a list of base mountpoints to choose from

If you see the message "Getting IP address" then "Setting up module" and it keeps changing back and forth between the two messages its possible your APN settings are wrong.

9) If you get error messages you can go back into the RTK tab and tap "wrenches" next to Device: Internal GSM then tap "wrenches" next to "Provider: T-mobile" and try using the other combination listed below:

APN Server: wap.voicestream.com
	Username: tmobile
	Password: tmobile

10) If you are still having difficulty connecting you can go into Equip / GPS Utilities and tap "Send Command" then in the box in the top left type in the code below:
$GSM,IMEI

Then tap "Send" and you can write down your IMEI number thats displayed on the screen for your Internal GSM modem.

This IMEI number can be given to your Cellphone Provider to make sure your Sim Chip is setup properly to work with the BRx5 internal modem.
