First check your current Version by Exiting out of SurvCE then tap the "2nd" function button / tap "W" to open the Start Menu.  Tap on "Run" then type in the word VERSION and tap OK.  If the NK.bin version doesn't show "5.00.073" you can follow the steps below to update it.

***PLEASE NOTE:  If you are already running the newer Operating System of 5.00.073 or higher the steps below will not be necessary since you are already up to date and current.

Before Starting this Update Process:

I) Write down the serial #:  in SurvCE, tap Equip \ About SurvCE \ Change Registration {it should start with a 5 or 3} –or- It should be printed on the Back Cover of your SurvCE Manual

II) Check that the jobs are in \SystemCF\Data:  Tap File \ tap Job = on the Top Left check what directory the jobs are being stored in

III) Backup All jobs on the Data Collector to a Desktop or a Laptop Computer
!!!WARNING failure to follow these first 3 steps could result in loss of Job Data!!!


Make sure that the Explorer 600+ is plugged in to the AC wall adapter during these processes.

***Step #1 ---  Install and/or connect to Microsoft ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center:
1) Download and install ActiveSync or Mobile Device Center:
If you have Windows XP and need to install ActiveSync click the link below. After it downloads click “Run” and then Follow the On-Screen prompts to install it:

For Windows Vista or Windows 7 computers without Windows Mobile Device Center click the link below:

2)  When the program gets to the “Get Connected” screen, plug in the USB Cable from the Desktop Computer into the Data Collector and click Next.  Follow the prompts to get connected to ActiveSync.

3)  Once the ActiveSync connects up tell it NO you do not want a partnership then It should have a Green circle and say Connected on the Desktop computer

***Step #2 --- Copy the OS Update Files to the 600+
1) After your connected with ActiveSync - Save the Attached file "OSUpdate600.exe" from the bottom of this webpage to your Desktop Computer

2) After the file has finished downloading Double-Click the "OSUpdate600" file to run the program

3) When it says "Press any key to Continue" / hit Enter

4) It will say "Copying update files..." which will take about 3mins with a USB connection

5) After it has finished copying files it says "Press any key to continue" / hit Enter


***Step #3 --- Updating the Operating System of the 600+

1) Plug your 600+ data collector into the Wall Charger and unplug the USB cable from the bottom


2) tap the "Update" Button that is shown on the 600+ screen / tap "Yes" = let the program run --- do not touch the keyboard


3)  it says "Copying new files..., Please Standby"


4)  then it will say "Status: Process complete" / tap DONE


5) You will see a message that says "To Complete the update process remove all power from the JETT for 5 seconds and then reapply power"


6) Remove the Battery and UNPLUG the data collector from the AC Adapter for 5 seconds - the screen should fade out and go blank if you remove the battery and unplug it / put the battery back in / power on the Data Collector

7) This completes the Update of your Carlson Operating System.

8) You can disable the WiFi popup window by following the link below: Disable WiFi

9) Now you can open up SurvCE = if it prompts that you are in DEMO mode you can register it online at www.survce.com  click on the Green Checkmark for Registration in the appropriate column for your Version {i.e. - 2.0 or 1.6}.  Fill out the form and click Submit to receive your Automatic Email containing the Change Key
