The following are the various surfaces created by Carlson Takeoff or the Civil SiteNet menu:

Existing:

  • -OG (Original Ground "before zones") is the existing surface.
  • -ZE (Original Ground with Subgrade "after zones") is the existing surface less any existing subgrade adjustments specified via Define Layer Target/Material/Subgrade.
  • -EX (Original Ground with Subgrade/Topsoil Removal "after zones and topsoil removal") is the existing surface less any existing subgrade adjustments specified via Define Layer Target/Material/Subgrade less any topsoil removal specified via Topsoil Removal/Replacement.

Design:

  • -BS (Design without Subgrade/Topsoil Replacement "before zones") is the design surface.
  • -ZN (Design with Subgrade "after zones") is the design surface less any design subgrade adjustments specified via Define Layer Target/Material/Subgrade.
  • -FN (Design with Subgrade/Topsoil Replacement "after zones and before topsoil replacement") is the design surface less any design subgrade adjustments specified via Define Layer Target/Material/Subgrade less the topsoil replacement specified via Topsoil Removal/Replacement.

NOTE: Topsoil replacement is independent of the Layer Target/Material/Subgrade settings which have no effect on the topsoil replacement. If Topsoil Replacement is to be excluded from an area, specify a Topsoil Replacement polyline for the exclusion.

Over-Excavate:

(only available in TakeOff)

  • -OX is the over-excavate surface specified via Define Layer Target/Material/Subgrade → Add Target.
