Title: Mikrofyn Tilt Sensor Interfacing
Created: 2004-05-26Last modified: 2004-05-26
Firmware successfully tested on Mikrofyn XC1-U: xc1v17n8, so greater than or equal to this is good.

Baud rate 38,400 to talk with Mikrofyn.

Best way to check if the Mikrofyn sensor is communicating is to run HyperTerminal - standard utility in any windows operating system. In Win2KPro this is found under: Start, Programs, Accessories, Communications, HyperTerminal. Connect to Mikrofyn box using 38,400 baud and correct COM port. You will see a stream of readable data coming across, should be a series of number seperated by commas and it should repeat down the screen line by line. If you are seeing a bunch of junk, then the baud rate is not set correctly, and if you see nothing, then your COM setting is wrong.

If the computer is running when the Mikrofyn cable is attached, it will not work properly until the Mikrofyn is shut down and restarted. However, if the coms cables are plugged in, then the computer started - No Problems!! Currently there are 3 cables to connect to computer: power and 2 coms cables. The computer auto powers when the power is plugged in. The operator would plug in the power then the coms, which caused the problem. They are now plugging the coms in first, then the power, so the problem goes away.

If the computer is shut down and restarted while the mikrofyn box is ON, there is a problem and the Mikrofyn box shows "3D Error". The Mikrofyn box must be turned OFF and back ON to work correctly. It shows "3D Run" and the correct information starts to be output.
