Installing CG Field on a Carlson Surveyor

Installing CG Field on a Carlson Explorer

CGField can run on the following data collectors:
Allegro (pre-CX model)
Allegro CX
Carlson Surveyor
Jett (Carlson Explorers)
Ranger
RangerX

The programs are different for each device and can be found in the named folders:

Allegro
AllegroCX
Surveyor
Jett
Ranger
Ranger_X

1) On the handheld, use the Windows File Explorer to make three folders in the root directory:
	CG
	CGDATA
	PocketDos

The root directory has different names on the different data collectors:
On the Surveyor it is Program Files
On the Allegro it is "C_Drive"
On the Explorers it is "SystemCF"
On the Ranger it is "Disk"
On the RangerX and Carlson Surveyor it is "My Device"

Examples:
Surveyor+: "Program FilesCG" and "Program FilesPocketDos"
	JETT/Explorer: "SystemCFCG" and "SystemCFPocketDos"
	Allegro: "C_DriveCG" and "C_DrivePocketDos"
	Ranger: "DiskCG" and "DiskPocketDos"
Surveyor and RangerX: "My DeviceCG" and "My DevicePocketDos"

2) Download the file "CGField.zip" from the link at the bottom of the article and save it to your Desktop Computer. After its finished downloading = Unzip this file to your Desktop.

In the "CG_Field" folder you will find the CG.BAT file = Copy this to the Root Directory of the data collector

3) Next, put the appropriate program files in the CG folder. For example, put the files in the "Surveyor+" folder (CG.EXE, ST.OPT and CSW_Reg.exe) in "My DeviceCG"

4) Put the PD2093_FreeDOS files into the PocketDOS folder (My DevicePocketDos).

5) If you transferred the files via ActiveSync you must disconnect from the PC now.

6) If you can, use the File Explorer to create a desktop shortcut for PocketDos.exe. If you can't,
run PocketDos from the File Explorer.

7) PocketDos will load and run. PocketDos must be configured. Using your stylus, select the miniature
Windows icon in the lower left corner of the screen. Go to SETTINGS>DISPLAY. There are 3 changes
to make here. On the ADVANCED tab move the Bits per pixel slider all the way LEFT. On the
PERFORMANCE tab move the refresh rate slider all the way RIGHT. On the ZOOM tab
UNCHECK the "show zoom button" box and CHECK the "set text mode columns and rows"
box. Define 22 columns and 9 rows. Accept the changes.

6) Using your stylus, again select the miniature Windows icon in the lower
left corner of the screen. Go to SETTINGS>COMMUNICATION>COM1. Redirect the
COM1 port to "COM1 Serial Cable on COM1". Place a check in the "save redirection"
box and accept the changes.

7) The Next step is to register CGField. Enter CG at the C:> prompt to run CGField then call Carlson Software at (606) 564-5028 and ask for help with "C&G Field Registration"

8) The last step is to purchase and register PocketDos. Go to www.pocketdos.com and follow the instructions or click below for a Step by Step guide:
