Installing and Building a Geoid Grid
I. Please download Carlson X-port at the link below {XportSetup.exe} and use the serial number listed in the back of your SurvCE binder/manual. {it should be listed as X-port serial # and start out like this: 133
} -or- You can use Carlson Survey or Carlson SurvCadd.

II. Geoid Grid files are a separate install program located on the SurvCE CD. They are also available on
the Internet at the link above as the file CarlsonGeoidGrids.exe
***You will need to Run the CarlsonGeoidGrids.exe file after you have downloaded it***
III. Once you have finished installing X-port and the Geoid grid files:
1) Hook up the Explorer to the computer with the 9pin cable
2) Turn on the Explorer and load up SurvCE
3) On the data Collector Tap File Tab / tap Data Transfer / tap Carlson Transfer {it should say awaiting
connection}
4) ON THE Desktop Computer --- Run Carlson X-port / click Tools / click Data Transfer / click
SurvCE/G2/FastSurvey
5) Click the Geoid button in the bottom right corner
6) Click the select button and navigate to the directory you installed the Geoid Grids to
7) Key in the Latitude & Longitude, Grid Size and file name that you want --- You should ALWAYS make
the size 120 miles or 2 degrees {this will create a geoid file with a 50mile Radius}
8) Click OK and it will make a grid file and copy it to the data collector
9) After it is finished copying - On the data collector tap Close in the upper right corner / tap File / Tap job
settings / tap the GPS tab / tap Geoid Separation File button / select the file we just created / Tap OK /
