Configuring the Carlson CR2/CR5 to use Long-Range Bluetooth Handle:
  1. On the total station, go to the main menu. This is the screen with six large icons. You may need to press "Esc" a few times to get to it.
  2. Choose 5-Configure, and then 4-Interfaces.
  3. Press the down arrow to highlight "GeoCOM Mode", and then press F3-Edit.
  4. Press the down arrow to highlight the port. Use the Left/Right arrows to select Port 2 (Handle).
  5. Press F5-Device then tap F6-Page to get to the Radios tab.
  6. Press the down arrow to highlight ZRT81.
  7. Press F3 for Edit. Tap the left arrow to set the Baud Rate to 115200 as shown in the screenshot to the right.
  8. Press F1 for store, and then F1 for continue, then F1 for continue again. Wait for the hourglass to go away and wait for the red light on the radio handle to go off.

Supervisor setup for the Parani UD100: There are several models of this device and these instructions only work with the UD100 model. This is the usb device without any dip switches and these instructions are for the Supervisor only.
  1. Turn on tablet and follow the instructions that are given in the quick start guide provided along with the device. These instruct the user to uninstall and other type of Bluetooth driver or utility on the device. *(We chose and alternative method. We did not uninstall but, instead we went into device manager, Bluetooth devices, and disabled the Windows Bluetooth Enumerator (stack). This way if one wants to go back and use the built-in Bluetooth, one can. The Windows Stack is still there to use with the built in Bluetooth.)
  2. Follow the instructions and run the disk provided with the unit. We used an external CD drive with a USB connection to do this. If you do not have an external drive, transfer the software over to USB stick and run it from there.
  3. Once the Blue Soliel software is installed reboot the Supervisor. There will be a new Bluetooth icon in the taskbar when the computer comes back up.
  4. Make sure to turn off the internal Bluetooth by pressing the menu button on the face of the tablet four times. Then, uncheck the Bluetooth radio.
  5. Install the UD100 in the usb port and double tap the Bluetooth icon in the taskbar.
  6. The Blue Soliel software will start up and find any available Bluetooth devices with range that are discoverable. Give the software a second to bring in the device name so you can connect to the correct one.
  7. Double tap on the device you want to connect to and the software will tell you which services are available with that device. The Bluetooth handle will only have serial service available. Double tap on the serial service icon in the upper part of the window and the software will assign a com port for the connection. Remember this port or write the number down for later use in SurvPC. Exit the Blue Soliel software.
  8. Start up SurvPC and go to the Equipment tab. Pick on total station and make the Carlson CR2 robotic driver selection. In the Comms tab select Type: Bluetooth , BT Type: Generic, and Port: (the com port the Blue Soliel software assigned the robot handle to earlier). Hit the connection icon at the top and verify the connection. Tap the green check and the Supervisor should be communicating with the CR2 Robot.
