Carlson Software Forms Positioning & Machine Control Division

Steve Weber named VP of Engineering; Randy Noland named VP of Sales & Marketing

MAYSVILLE, Ky. – In recognition of the rapid embrace of technology by the construction industry, Carlson Software has formally formed a Positioning & Machine Control Division incorporating its machine control software development team, a specialized sales force and global OEM distribution.

Carlson, an independent company founded in 1983, has been providing machine control and estimating solutions for nine years. Carlson construction software solutions include the recently introduced Carlson Grade 3.0, Carlson Takeoff 2.0, Carlson Layout, Carlson Grade Supervisor and Carlson Grade Checker. The 25-year-old company is also well known for its comprehensive civil, surveying, and mining software solutions.

“We have linked our elite programming staff with our industry experts and formed this division based on the demands of the marketplace for easy-to-use, yet highly productive software,” says Bruce Carlson, founder and president of Carlson Software. “We’re all ready with the construction software solutions the industry wants and needs, just as machine control and estimating technology is being widely accepted, due, in part, to the substantial cost savings it provides.”

Steve Weber. P.E., of Maysville, Ky., has been named Vice President of Engineering, Research and Development for Carlson’s Position & Machine Control Division. Weber, who has been at Carlson for eight years, brings more than 30 years of experience in transportation, structural, civil, geophysical, and mining engineering.

“Carlson is dedicated to offering the industry a choice and providing the tools that contractors need,” says Weber. “We’re staying ahead of the game by bringing the latest technology to the construction site to help contractors dramatically improve production and safety.”

Joining Weber on the team is Randy Noland of Greensboro, N.C., named Vice President of Sales and Marketing and OEM/Business Development. Noland brings more than 22 years of experience developing and marketing innovative positioning hardware and software.

“Our goal at CPMC is to bring Open Positioning Architecture (OPA) to the industry landscape,” says Noland. “Carlson’s innovative OPA-compliant software products facilitate compatibility by bridging manycompetitivesystems to work well together.” Noland adds, “That concept will surely grow the positioning industry.”

Other members of the Carlson Positioning & Machine Control Division include: Dave Fileccia, Technical Director, Machine Guidance & Automation, of Sugar Hill, Ga.;  Dave Jordan, National Sales Manager, Machine Control, of Grand Rapids, Mich.;  Paul Christopherson, Project Manager, Machine Control Software, and Jonathan Christopherson, Programmer/Customer Support Specialist, both of Cincinnati, Ohio; and Robert Inman, Field Installation Manager, of Lima, Peru.
