MAYSVILLE, Ky., U.S.A. (July 21, 2020) — Carlson Machine Control has partnered with Sally Zadra as an official dealer and reseller. With over thirty years of experience working in the mining and quarries industry across North America, Sally Zadra has routinely collaborated with Carlson staff and utilized Carlson Software solutions.

The partnership between Carlson Machine Control and Sally Zadra began as a result of blasting design research. Her familiarity with Carlson Software and the original Quarryman and Boretrak, now part of the Carlson Laser Measurement Division (LMD) product line, established a connection.

Zadra specifically supports Carlson Machine Control’s application in quarries including drill grade and loader grade systems. She also provides testing and features insight for Carlson’s new blast design software, BlastOPS, and Carlson LMD’s related technology solutions.

“Carlson Machine Control’s quarry application saves a lot of time,” says Zadra. “The customers I’ve worked with enjoy being able to address productivity issues and the ability to troubleshoot remotely. Site managers will often be in charge of three or more locations and can’t be on-site all the time and Carlson Machine Control makes it possible to monitor multiple sites at once.”

Sally Zadra graduated from the Colorado School of Mines, a public research university focused on science and engineering, with a degree in Mining Engineering. Following graduation, she began working for gold mines in Nevada and became a drilling and blasting manager — gaining exposure to the explosives industry. Her work led her to Georgia, more challenging terrain of blasting in a more urban environment. In Georgia, she worked with some of the original laser profilers and borehole tracking equipment, many of which were the original profilers and measuring systems that have evolved into their current models within the Carlson LMD product line. Zadra has since begun her own blast design and mine/quarry surveying company and continues to provide consultation to mines and quarries.

Carlson’s complete blasting solution starts with a Quarryman Pro being used to survey rock faces. Carlson BlastOPS is then used to design a blast. The drill pattern is then uploaded to the drills. As holes are being drilled, an operator can then utilize a Carlson Boretrak to quality check for hole deviation. The data recorded from the scanned holes can then be merged with the blast design in BlastOPS. The design and as-drilled data are combined to provide an accurate model of the blast for final review prior to initiation.

Carlson Machine Control provides GPS machine guidance solutions for quarries including solutions specific to loaders, drills, excavators, shovels, and dozers.
