If choosing to use a ruggedized PC tablet in the field, then Carlson SurvPC is the data collection system to use with it. SurvPC has unprecedented versatility providing access to CAD, Esri® ArcGIS, and MicroStation DGN files directly in the field.

MAYSVILLE, Ky., U.S.A— SurvPC is a complete data collection system for Real Time Kinematic (RTK) GNSS and Total Stations with in-field CAD and coordinate geometry. With Carlson’s SurvPC CAD functions, users are able to work much like they would at their desk in the office. Point symbols can be set up in the field-to-finish coding so that traverse points look just as they would on a desktop computer.

For high accuracy in GIS, SurvPC provides survey grade data collection directly within an Esri Geodatabase. Field crews can take all or portions of the actual Esri maps to the field and access the database for all entities. Symbols, lines, and polygons can be picked and re-measured or new features added, with no file conversion. To see the capabilities of SurvPC and Esri, visit the Carlson Software booth #2501 at the Esri User Conference in San Diego, June 28-30.

Utilizing a Windows-based tablet device, surveyors can also directly access MicroStation DGN files as a data platform in the field. SurvPC will recognize the “levels” and cell structure of elements in the DGN. Additionally, any “as-built” points and any subsequent field-to-finish lines can also be stored directly to the DGN file.
