About Lexington, Kentucky

Within a day's drive of two-thirds of the population of the United States, Lexington is accessible by air with approximately 100 direct and nonstop flights. Lexington, which was founded in 1775, is located in the heart of the Bluegrass region of Kentucky and is known as the “Horse Capital of the World,” but is also well-known for its bourbon, America's only native spirit. Both the racehorses and the bourbon benefit from the limestone formed in this unique geological region, which was a shallow tropical ocean millions of years ago. Outside activities of interest include tours of horse farms and a trip through the "Bourbon Trail." From its vibrant downtown to its famed horse farms, Lexington features a wide variety of interesting activities for visitors including thoroughbred racing at Keeneland, golfing on championship-caliber courses (and the spring weather in Lexington is very conducive to golfing), fine dining and enjoying southern hospitality.
