More than 40 Carlson Mining users attended the recent training conference, Carlson's 10th annual, to learn about the newest updates to the recently released 2008 Carlson Mining Modules. The event was held in Carlson Software's home office in Maysville, Ky., June 21-22.
The core Mining Modules are comprised of Basic Mining, Geology, Surface Mining, and Underground Mining. These are usually combined with the standard Survey and Civil Modules to create the total Mining, Engineering, and Geology CAD package.
The tenth annual Carlson Mining user group meeting provided detailed training to users of the Carlson
Software Mining Modules. In addition, attendees were able to interact with the pro-grammers, trainers and developers of
the mining software. While they were getting training, they were also able to discuss
new features and make requests. Wish list items and program updates were gathered for product development.
Attendees included geologists and engineers who currently use, or plan to use, Carlson’s Mining Modules. The user group meeting was especially beneficial to those who are engaged in site planning, road design, drillhole geology, geologic modeling, reserve studies, blasting,
underground and surface mine scheduling, detailed simulation of mine progression and selection of equipment from long
walls to draglines with range diagramming.
Attendees were encouraged to bring any projects and data-sets that represented challenging scenarios or problems for them and to present them to the Carlson staff to tackle. Questions and suggestions of new features were addressed at this meeting. A report on the suggestions will be published in the September Carlson newsletter. All licensed users left the
seminar with an updated copy of the Carlson Mining 2008.
