Survey Track
Time, Class Titles, Descriptions, and Instructors (subject to change)
Monday, April 6
8-9:45AM/Points/Darryl Bowser/CEU Credit -- In this session we will be discussing the concepts behind the Carlson COGO point system common to all of the Carlson modules. Demonstrations will include the numerous options and editing capabilities available for point display as well as the various methods for performing and documenting point manipulation.
10:15AM-Noon/Field-to-Finish/Dave Carlson/CEU Credit -- Learn how to use Field-to-Finish to plot field survey points with descriptions as symbols and linework in pre-defined layers, using your office's or customer's drawing CAD standards. This session will cover the different methods for connecting linework, special codes and the latest features that have been added in recent releases.
1-2:45PM/SurvNET/Cliff Petersohn/CEU Credit -- This session will explain fundamental concepts associated with the adjustment of surveying measurements using least squares techniques, and the associated capabilities of Carlson SurvNET. Focus will be the solution of adjustment tasks commonly encountered by practicing surveyors using customer supplied examples.
3:15-5PM/Raw Data Processing/Harry Ward/CEU Credit -- In this session, learn the fundamentals of Raw File Processing, various adjustment techniques, and how and when to apply them. Examples will range from simple user-entered traverse and sideshot observations (reducing field notes) to a large file that would typically be imported from an electronic data collector, both Total Station and GPS data sets. Adjustment techniques will include Compass Rule, Crandall Rule, and Least Squares Adjustments. We will also look at level adjustments in this session as well.
Tuesday, April 7
8-9:45AM/LotNET /Aaron Newman/CEU Credit -- Come learn two different ways to design a subdivision inside of LotNET. In addition, you will learn how to lay out lots with setbacks around ponds and make changes to the lots and ROW with ease. Also be able to identify sub-areas (such as pond, creek, park, etc) and design lots around these areas with ease. Finally, get lot reports and create coordinate file to take to field to stakeout.
10:15AM-Noon/Deeds/Tom Peak/CEU Credit -- Deeds, Not Words: All surveyors need to work with legal documents that they find at their local registry of deeds. This session will cover how to work with these documents through Carlson’s many deed processing components. We will apply different tactics for translating the deed into the drawing program. And, going the other direction, we will cover creating a legal description from the drawing.
1-2:45PM/Annotation/Mike Hyman/CEU Credit -- In this session, we will be discussing the annotation capabilities offered by the Carlson survey modules. We will show the capabilities of annotating linework and areas in both a linked and an unlinked mode. We will also demonstrate the capabilities of manipulating the appearance of existing annotation elements.
3:15-5PM/Surface Modeling Basics/Ken Crawford/CEU Credit -- In this session we will be discussing the theory and algorithms of surface preparation in Carlson Civil/Survey. We will show varying data types appropriate for creating surfaces and discuss the ramifications of data types. An example of how to prepare a surface will be shown and the settings will be explained. Following that will be a demonstration of how to perform QA/QC analyses to ensure surface integrity.
5:15-6PM/Survey Future Directions/Cliff Petersohn -- This session will discuss some of the new and near term areas of focus for continued development of Carlson surveying capabilities. Users will be encouraged to participate and voice both their feedback and preferences as respects priorities and any areas that may have been overlooked.
A grid with the complete class schedule is now available. NOTE: Classes offering IACET-sanctioned CEUs are listed below, but it is recommended that, due to differing state requirements, each attendant check with his or her state organization to determine its CEU acceptance/regulations. If you have a specific request for a class subject, please email conference@carlsonsw.com and your request will be considered. |
