Civil Track I/Surface Modeling Basics/Ken Crawford/CEU Credit -- In this session, we will be discussing the theory and algorithms of surface preparation in Carlson Civil/Survey. We will show varying data types appropriate for creating surfaces and discuss the ramifications of data types. An example of how to prepare a surface will be shown and the settings will be explained. Following that will be a demonstration of how to perform QA/QC analyses to ensure surface integrity.
Civil Track II/LotNET/Aaron Newman/CEU Credit -- Come learn two different ways to design a subdivision inside of LotNET. In addition, you will learn how to lay out lots with setbacks around ponds and make changes to the lots and ROW with ease. Also be able to identify sub-areas (such as pond, creek, park, etc) and design lots around these areas with ease. Finally, get lot reports and create coordinate file to take to field to stakeout.

Civil Track I/Grading/Mike Hyman/CEU Credit -- The grading session will discuss the theory and the art of grading for design and data prep purposes in Civil/Survey. We will show examples of how the tools for grading are applied. Once a graded surface is created we will discuss how it can be used and merged into existing ground for data prep and design purposes. Applied examples will illustrate grading criteria.
Civil Track II/Roading Basics/Darryl Bowser/CEU Credit -- This session will cover basic creation of roads and the grading of them to an existing TIN. Will also include editing of proposed road, station labeling and creating/editing templates. From this, we will be able to create profiles and sections for use in plans and design.

Civil Track I/Commercial Site Design/Harry Ward/CEU Credit -- In this seminar, you will learn how to lay out a commercial site, learn methods of handling rainfall events and designing retention facilities. Some of the design features discussed will comprise a lesson in parcel layout for the site, basic grading, computing earthworks takeoffs and design and layout storm utilities.
Civil Track II/Roading Advanced/Jim Reinbold/CEU Credit -- Take control of your highway design and explore advanced roading methods. Attendees will learn how to apply superelevation using AASHTO-specifications and will explore procedures to transition between different roadway template configurations. Attendees will also examine methods to control the offset and/or elevation points of a road to produce efficient roadway designs that safely drain water away from the traveled way.

Civil Track I/SiteNET/Gary Rosen/CEU Credit --
This session covers the use of SiteNET, a layer-based surface generator found in Carlson Civil that delivers earthwork volume calculations and visualizations of the earthwork volumes with cut/fill color maps, labels, and/or contours. This class will also demonstrate the specification of subsurface volumes, sub-volumes for specific areas of interest, and the automatic adjustment of drawing entities to achieve balanced earthwork quantities.
Civil Track II/RoadNET/Scott Griffin/CEU Credit -- This session focuses on the capabilities of RoadNET, the pinnacle of road design functionality found in Carlson Civil. Starting from scratch with AutoCAD polylines, we will cover the entire process of turning these into a network of roads, in 2D and 3D, including the creation of Profiles, Cross Sections, Templates, Finished Contours, Volume Calcs, and 3D Visualization. The Road Network, will inclue 3-way and 4-way intersections, cul-de-sacs, roundabouts, and transitions for bus turnouts or lane widenings. You will leave ready to design any network of roads you encounter.

Civil Track II/Watersheds-Routing/Bruce Carlson/CEU Credit -- This session covers watershed analysis and hydrograph routing. Starting with a 3D terrain model, we will use watershed analysis to delineate the watershed boundaries, find the ponding areas and draw runoff polylines. Next, we will work through the process of calculating time of concentration and peak flow for different methods includeing TR-55 and SCS. Finally, we will cover creating and routing hydrographs through reservoirs and channels using the TR-20 and Carlson methods.

Civil Track II/Hydro Structures/Dave Sanford/CEU Credit -- In this session, we will demonstrate the capabilities in Carlson Hydrology for designing and analyzing structural components including ponds, weirs, orifices, culverts and channels. Interaction with other well known hydrology programs will be demonstrated as well.

Civil Track II/Storm Sewer Networks/Ladd Nelson/CEU Credit -- Attendees will learn how to leverage the power and flexibility of the Storm Sewer Network capabilities found in Carlson Hydrology. The creation of custom sewer structures and rainfall events will be explored as attendees witness how new sewer networks can be created while simultaneously checking for conflicts with other network utilities.

Civil Track I/Profile-Section Sheets/Gary Rosen/CEU Credit -- Take a tour through Carlson Civil and explore methods to produce quality construction documents! Attendees will learn how to create and adjust Plan & Profile Sheets and Cross-Section Sheets. Attendees will also explore methods to incorporate CAD Standards used for sheet generation to produce a quality deliverable product in a timely fashion.
Civil Track II/HydroCAD/Peter Smart/CEU Credit --
Learn how you can effectively tackle all of your site design, hydrology design, analysis, and reporting needs using Carlson Hydrology and its connections to HydroCAD, presented by the creator or HydroCAD.

Civil Future Directions/Dave Carlson -- Come learn more about what Carlson's Civil future has to offer in 2009 and the new relationships that Carlson has with ESRI and others.
